Damping Capacity Finite Element Analysis of High Volume Fraction SiCp/Al Composites

The damping capacity of high volume fraction SiCp /Al composites is studied by establishing the finite ele-ment model with ANSYS,combined with the unit cell method.The results show that the damping capacity value of SiCp /Al composites is zero when the strain amplitude is small.However,when strain amplitude is over the critical point,the damping capacity value increases rapidly with the growth of strain amplitude.The reinforcing particle shape has large influ-ence on the damping capacity value of SiCp /Al composites,and larger strain and more large strain area can improve the damping capacity value.The average elastic modulus of SiCp /Al composite model declines when strain amplitude grows, which shows the similarity with the tendency that the damping capability of the model increases as the strain amplitude grows.
