Abstract:Single crystal of Ce 2Co 17 and Ce 2Co 17-x Ga x compounds with Ga concentration up to x=5 were prepared by three-arc Czochralski and vacuum arc melting,respectively.The structure and magnetic properties of these compounds were studied by means of X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements.The influence of different annealing temperatures on the crystal structure of Ce 2Co 17 compound was clarified.Special attention was paid to the relationship between the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the Co-sublattice and the preferred site occupation of Ga atoms over the four available crystallographic sites on the Co-sublattice.
