Guest Editors' Introduction: Knowledge-Assisted Visualization

This special issue presents four articles demonstrating a first step from traditional interactive visualization to knowledge-assisted visualization. Knowledge-assisted visualization's objectives include sharing domain knowledge among different users and reducing the burden on users to acquire knowledge about complex visualization techniques. The four articles address this new challenge from different perspectives, including methodologies, systems, and applications.
