Abstract:The morphology of fracture surface, microstructure and distribution of microhardness of the spark berning defect zones were studied by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope and microhardness tester. The results showed that due to the eltctrode jaws and track surfaces did not fully contact during flash welding, some gaps between surface induced sparks which heated some spots on the track surface to high temperature and then quenched by the track itself. This is the cause for the formation of electric spark burning defects.
