Abstract:In order to provide reference for insulation engineering design and application,the voltage distribution of a combined insulation in EHV transmission lines was studied for glass insulators installed at both end of a composite insulator.Three-dimensional finite element models of electrostatic field were established to compute the voltage distribution referring to the actual shape of composite and glass insulators,and static voltmeter was used to measure the voltage distribution in laboratory.The comparison of results showed that the combination with five pieces of glass insulator installed at high voltage side,and grading rings installed at joint and low voltage side can effectively improve the voltage distribution of composite insulators,with the voltage percentage of the junction reduced from 28% to 12%.
