Concept and Calculation of Detection Limit in Low Level Radioactive Sample Measurement

This paper is to introduce the concept of Detection Limit through the discussion of the measurement of the fluctuating lake surface level and deduce its calculation formula. The real meaning of the background count in the calculation formula is also explained in the different measuring methods. The purpose is to help the workers involved in low level radioactivity measurement to have a comprehensive understanding of the concept, and to master the deduction of its calculation formula and know how to use it in their practical work.
