浮现中的网络城市的网络--互联网对全球城市体系的影响

基于互联网地理学的两种分析手段(互联网注册域名和骨干网络带宽),分别研究了全球互联网产业的城市分布格局和互联网城市网络的结构体系。研究发现,从全球范围来讲,原有的城市体系仍然在互联网产业的区位中起着重要作用;互联网活动具有明显的空间集聚性;全球性城市不再支配互联网的全球地理结构,而只是充当其中重要的节点。结果表明,在新的互联网技术影响作用下,一个由网络城市组成的全球城市网络已在浮现之中。

THE IMPACT OF INTERNET ON GLOBAL URBAN SYSTEM

In 1990s the rapid growth of theinternet has not only had strong impact on social andeconomic fields, but also restructured the organiza-tion of global physical and virtual spaces. Based ontwo measurements of internet geography——domainname registrations and backbone network, this paperanalyses the urban geography of global internetindustries. It finds that global urban system still hasgreat influence on the location selection of internetindustries, internet activities are on an obvious con-centration trend, and global cities are the importantnodes in the geographic structure of internet. Thus, aglobal urban network is emerging under the impact ofthe internet technology.
