| Abstract: | We propose a method for the segmentation of the images of indicator traces on a surface obtained in the course of recording
the results of liquid-penetrant control in the form of a digital image. This method is based on the use of statistical characteristics
of the samples of points belonging to the foreground and background in the apparatus for constructing matting α-matrices.
