Abstract:Sulfur content in iron ores was determined by the combustion neutralization and the combustion iodometric method,the common practice needed much more time to determine sulfur content in iron ores,sometimes the samples were fused incompletely.The values resulted from the factors were instability.A method for the determination of sulfur content in iron ores was established by high frequency infrared absorption spectrometry HCS-216A.Using the standard samples,the results of 1.181% for 1.18% and 1.844% for 1.84% were measured by the proposed method,respectively.The relative standard deviation was less than 0.35%(n=9).Satisfactory analysis showed that there was significant consistency between the proposed method and common practice in 10 samples.The proposed method with effective,fast response and accuracy provided good application prospect in the analysis of iron ores.
