| Abstract: | Fulminant primary Cytomegalovirus (CMV) colitis can occur in immunocompetent individuals and mimics inflammatory bowel disease. Cytomegalovirus inclusions are found in rectal or colonic biopsy specimens. Thus, careful histological evaluation of mucosa biopsies is essential for the diagnosis of this entity. |
