Abstract:The effective thermal conductivity of the dense phase in expanded non-bubbling fluidized beds has been studied between minimum fluidization and minimum bubbling for 9 gas—solid systems. Except close to minimum bubbling, the effective thermal conductivity is not a function of bed voidage and is most sensitive to the gas phase thermal conductivity. The experimental results have been compared with 11 packed bed correlations and with suitable modification three of these can be used to accurately predict the effective thermal conductivity of a non-bubbling fluidized bed.
