Abstract:In order to investigate the catalytic oxidation performance of a novel self-developed iron-containing catalyst(HACO-P type) which characterized by low cost and easy preparation, with 4-chlorophenol(4-CP) as the object, the effect of the said catalyst catalyzing H2O2 to degrade 4-CP in water, as well as the influencing factors, were studied. The morphology of HACO-P was characterized, which showed that, its surface was porous and had a large specific surface area. The adsorption performance of HACO-P for 4-CP was investigated separately and then, isotherm was fitted, it was found that the maximum adsorption capacity was 200 mg/g. On the basis of equilibrium adsorption, the effects of catalyst dosage, H2O2 concentration, pH value and some other factors on 4-CP removal in catalytic oxidation were investigated. The results showed that, pH value was the key factor determining the catalytic oxidation reaction rate, when the pH value was lower than 4.0, the system of H2O2 catalyzed by HACO-P could completely transform 4-CP within 30 min, and the total organic carbon removal rate could reach 60% within 4 h. In addition, the conversion rate of 4-CP could be improved to some extent by increasing HACO-P dosage and H2O2 concentration.
