| Abstract: | The experimental results on the collective behaviour of gold nuclei on (100) KCl substrates are summarized in order to demonstrate that the repulsive forces between nuclei can be modified by the application of an electric field in the plane of the film. An analysis of the radial distribution of nuclei gives direct evidence of the role of an electric field in the kinetics of coalescence. |
