An eddy viscosity turbulence model

Abstract:This paper describes the development of a turbulence model based on the eddy viscosity concept. The model is a combination of the Squire eddy viscosity model applied to the inner region and the outer Cebeci-Smith eddy viscosity model. Calculated results show that the model is capable of predicting accurately the steady two dimensional incompressible turbulent boundary layers without pressure gradients. Some results for the unsteady case are also presented. The potential of extending the model for a variety of turbulent flows is also discussed.
