Abstract:1 INTRODUCTION The determination of the solids hold-up and local solid fluxes is of paramount importance in the study of the hydrodynamics of a two-phase flow. Several tech-niques have been used during the past decades (Table1). These methods can be classified in two groups,depending on their possible disturbance of the two-phase flow. During a detailed investigation of the hy-drodynamics of circulating fiuidized beds (CFBs), the authors studied the solid loading profiles using several above mentioned techniques. The text below sum-marises the important findings and data treatment.
