Abstract:Spatially extended systems are modeled by coupled maps or coupled nonlinear oscillators. A gen-eral formula for analyzingthe stability of spatiotemporally periodic orbits in these systems is derived. By us-ing the vector discrete Fourier transformation, the analysis is much more simplified than the pervious studies.The formula obtained can be applied to various coupled extended systeths.
