Abstract:As a novel nano material with unique nanostructure and properties,carbon nano-particles(CNPs) show a great potential for biomedical and industry applications.However,how to automatically manipulate and assemble the CNPs is still very challenging.In this paper,a new method for automatic assembly of CNPs was proposed by utilizing light induced AC electro-osmotic(LI-ACEO).Based on the theoretical analysis of nano scale kinetics of CNPs in a non-uniform electrical field,the theoretical models of the slip velocity and the frequency range of the applied AC voltage were established and derived.Furthermore,the entire spatial distribution of the velocity caused by the LI-ACEO was simulated utilizing a commercial finite element simulation software Comsol Multiphysics.The optimal frequency of 1 kHz for the LI-ACEO manipulation was determined,and the mechanism of LI-ACEO was discussed in detail.The experimental results of 50nm CNPs proved that LI-ACEO is very effective for automatic manipulation and assembly of CNPs.The LI-ACEO also shows important potential for CNPs-based 3D nano structure and nano device building.
