Abstract: | In pace with the worldwide trend, the Japanese electric power industries are being deregulated and entering into competitive markets. Generation and a large size retail market are open to competition. The transmission system is open for use by new power suppliers, while utilities get the freedom of new business expansion. Traditional electric power utilities and new players are actively preparing for the new environment. This article discusses the challenges and opportunities for engineers in the electric power industry created by the changes occurring in the industry today. |
