Conclusions As regards the degree of sintering, the extent of the shrinkage, the thermal-shock resistance and the stability in contact with graphite at temperatures of service, the best material consists of fused magnesite containing 98–99% MgO, and the maximum grain size of the batch should be no more than 2 mm.Translated from Ogneupory No. 1, pp. 51–55, January, 1972.
