| Abstract: | Under the cognitive linguistics' assumption that one's language competence is a part of one's cognitive competence, this paper explores the cognitive mechanism on the shift of parts of speech for nouns, verbs and adjectives in Chinese and concludes that the shift in Chinese is determined by semantic component change and the change is just the reflection of categorization in our cognition of the world. |
