Preliminary Study on Production of Low Alloy Extra Heavy Steel Plate from Composite Slab

A new technology for production of extra heavy steel plate from composite slab is developed in order to meet the market demands on low alloy extra heavy steel plate orders of rich grade varieties, wide dimensional range, small batches, large single piece weight and higher quality. Production practice indicates that the low alloy extra heavy steel plate produced from composite slab has higher yield rate, lower cost, better internal soundness and mechanical properties than that produced from slab ingot, while the ingot dimension adapts to orders, which all satisfy the market demands on orders of rich grade varieties, wide dimensional range, small batches, large single piece weight and higher quality.
