| Abstract: | While showing some deficiencies of the conventional banded brake system on drawworks of drilling rigs, this paper presents the design feature and the principle Of operation of the disc brake system, explains the construction of brake discs and brake calipers, sets forth the design calculations of brake moment and thermal load, and propounds the prospects of disc brake system. |
