Stability problem in electromagnetic systems and possible solutions

The letter is concerned with dispersion relations of active electromagnetic systems which are polynomial functions of either frequency or wavenumber. In this case, the search for saddle and branch points needed for stability analysis can be performed by 2-dimensional rather than 4-dimensional search.
