Abstract: | The applications of Raman amplifiers as repeater amplifiers or post-transmitter amplifiers in a high-density WDM system are theoretically investigated. There exists an optimum pump power which results in maximum amplifier gain. The result shows that amplifier gains up to 50 dB and 20 dB are achievable for use as a repeater and a post-transmitter amplifier, respectively.<> |
