试论两湖地区的印刷业

作为人类传播知识与文化重要手段的印刷术，在图书制作与复制中占有十分重要的地位。两湖地区的印刷业在历史上一直位居全国前列。最迟至五代后晋时期，湖南已出现了雕版印刷；北宋时期，湖北省英山县布衣毕？发明了活字印刷术，为中国乃至世界印刷技术的跨越式进步做出了卓越贡献；元代湖北江陵县资福寺所刻的《金刚经注》，开辟了我国套版印刷的先河。明清时期，两湖地区的雕版印刷、活字印刷不断进步，图书、报刊实现了规模复制。
