| Abstract: | The Barcelona Pavilion by Mies van der Rohe is a seminal work of modern architecture.Meanwhile,it is also a work of architecture that carries within itself some funda- mental disparities between structural form and architec- tural form.Seeing the Barcelona Pavilion as a unique case yet with far more general implications,this article argues for the necessity of case studies of architectural works from tectonic point of view in the teaching of the history of Western architecture. |
