Approximate solution for a fluidized-bed biofilm model

An approximate algebraic solution for a fluidized-bed biofilm model, based on Monod kinetics, was developed using a one-point orthogonal collocation method. The solution was compared with an accurate numerical solution and was found to be accurate for the case where biofilm is “shallow”.
