Abstract:The paper discusses rainfall as a dynamic parameter in terms of the load–unload response theory, using the Xintan landslide in China as a case study. The computational results show that an abrupt jump occurs in the curve of the load–unload response ratio just before the landslide takes place. This indicates the potential of the dynamic parameter of rainfall for the prediction of colluvial landslides.
Keywords:Colluvial landslide  Dynamic parameter of rainfall  Load–  unload response ratio  Xintan landslide
