摘    要:由于瘦终端本身的计算和存储能力有限,而云计算有着超强的计算和存储能力,通过服务器端运行终端应用,将应用的图形界面(GUI)抓屏实时编码为视频流,通过网络传输至终端解码呈现应用GUI,解决了瘦终端不能运行复杂应用的问题。提出了一种基于X Window System的应用GUI流化方法,并验证了其可行性和有效性。该方法的优势在于良好的跨平台性,缺点是需要充裕的带宽来保证数据流的传输。

Abstract:The computing and storage capacity of thin clients is limited. However, cloud servers have superior computing power and massive resource. If an application runs on the cloud server, and transfer the running results(graphical user interface updates) to the client in the form of video stream, thin client will get results as application running locally. So the restrictions of thin clients can be lifted. A method of application streaming based on X Window System is proposed in this paper. The method has a good cross-platform performance, but it requires high bandwidth.
