Abstract:A theoretical model for IR radiance statistics of the natural terrain has been developed, in which all the heat and water flux exchanges between terrain and atmosphere are under consideration. The influence of the field fluctuation in shortwave sorptivity and wind speed on the statistics distribution of radiance is discribed, with special emphasis on the daily variation of the radiance statistics. Also, a comparison of a wet terrain with a dry terrain in statistics is made.
