Abstract:Systematic investigation of wear behavior of selective laser sintering (SLS) materials is lacking in SLS/selective laser melting research. The present research is an effort to fill the gap by performing sliding wear tests under plastic and elastic contact conditions upon proprietary iron-based SLS materials: LaserForm and DirectSteel. It is found that LaserForm is a better SLS wear material. It is concluded that wear performance is governed not by the hardness of the materials but by their composition.
