Based on the investigation and analysis of the historic background of chang'an city planning in the Tang Dynasty, the Dayan Pagoda north plaza is designed by the principle of inheriting and developing historic context. The original concept starts with "reflection of pagoda in water" and reappearance of the Tang Chang'an city's order of space, scale of street, cultural events, as well as the urban basic unit-Li Fang.
