Both CCD and CMOS image sensors can be used for taking still and motion pictures, this paper expatiates on the working mechanism of these two types of sensors and their operation characteristics, and also main differences and similarities of their production process and technical parameters, therein mainly are expounded the functions of the light sensitive elements of these sensors and importantly the possibility of achieving system-on-chip technology.
