Vacuum foaming behaviour and test method of foaming vacuity of an impregnating resin

Foam arises in impregnating resin under certain vacuum condition, this phenomenon is called vacuum foaming behaviour of an impregnating resin, which blocks impregnating resin to permeamte windings fully and results in bad insulation quality if a impregnating resin foams under lower vacuity. Therefore, the applicability of a impregnating resin to vacuum impregnating insu- lation should be estimated according to tests. This paper defines some characteristics to describe the behaviours of an impregnating resin under vacuum condition, that are the characteristic of the vacuum foaming, the characteristic of the vavuum viscosity-temperature, the characteristic of the vacuum volatility, the parameters to character the characteristics, such as foaming vacuity to character the characteristic of the vacuum foaming are introduced. The test method of foaming vacuity is described detailed.
