Formvar characterization by use of forward elastic scattering

Abstract:The validity of the concentrations of carbon and oxygen reported in formvar previously and the underlying assumption that these elements are uniformly distributed in our formvar films have been checked. New elastically scattered 13 MeV 6Li+12C and 13 MeV 6Li+16O cross-sections have been measured at 17.5°, 25° and 28°. By use of these cross-sections, carbon and oxygen concentrations, a factor of 10 higher than previously reported values, have been determined for the first time in our formvar backings with a dispersion per backing not greater than 7%.
