Abstract: | Summary This paper deals with the three-dimensional analysis of the stress distribution in a plate of finite thickness containing an embedded elliptical crack subjected to a constant pressure. By using the douboe Fourier transform, the problem is reduced to the solution of the integro-differential equation which is solved iteratively. A numerical solution of the integro-differential equation is also obtained. These solutions are compared with the results in the published accounts. |
