Abstract:Different types of inclusions in steel materials could destroy the continuity of the metal matrix. The physical and chemical properties such as plastic toughness, fatigue and corrosion resistance of the material were deteriorated. Therefore, the size and total amount of inclusions were strictly controlled in production, and the assessment of inclusions had become an important index for steel quality classification. The principle of LIBS analysis of inclusion characterization in steel was introduced, the application research progress of LIBS technology in the distribution, particle size and content characterization of different types of inclusions was summarized, the deficiencies and difficulties was disussed, and its development prospects was prospected.
