Study on installation techniques of large-size rotor studs for hydropower generator-unit

The installation of large-size studs is one important process of hydro-generator rotor installation, which will exert direct impact on rotor roundness and concentricity. For large hydropower generator-unit with high capacity, the rotor installation is more technically demanding. According to the structural characteristics of the hydro-generator rotor in Ludila Hydropower Station in Jinsha River, the large-size studs and heated pads are used in rotor assembly. The installation techniques of the large-size rotor studs for the hydropower generator-unit in Ludila Hydropower Station are introduced and so are the differences compared with the conventional techniques of thermal keying of rotor yoke, and the important and difficult points of large-size stud installation are explained. The installation techniques and methods applicable to large-size rotor studs for hydropower generator-units are summarized through the practice in Ludila Hydropower Station.
