| Abstract: | This paper presented a new type of pintle nozzle designed to reduce fuel consumption and smoke in diesel engines with swirl chambe. The experimental results acquired on a model S195 diesel engine showed that, at the rated condition, performance of the engine with a new nozzle could be significantly improved, specific fuel consumption and smoke decreased by almost 4% and 31% respectively, exhaust temperature also reduced to a certain degree, compared with a conventional nozzle. |
