Open systems

Marcel Hurez, engineer in charge of information at the Centre d'études et de recherches de l'industrie du béton manufacturé, CERIB, at Epernon, France, traces the development of the now discredited closed building systems of the ‘sixties and argues that the so‐called ‘open’ systems of building offer architectural freedom, within defined dimensional co‐ordination and commercial boundaries.
