| Abstract: | Shows the origin and development of psychology in India from the British administration to the present. Indian psychology is influenced by the American behavioristic pattern. Many universities award Ph.D degrees in such areas as experimental, measurement, and clinical psychology. Psychotherapy has been accepted as a legitimate source of treatment. Indian psychology emphasizes writing books rather than publication of papers, since ther are few psychological journals. No national psychological organization exists.
