Abstract: | This is an analytic study of errors in calculating the amplitude spectrum of a polyharmonic signal from a discrete sequence of samples that are unequally spaced owing to random deviations (jitter) in the sampling time. Relationships are derived between the aperture jitter and the errors in estimating the Fourier coefficients and the square of the amplitude and amplitude of a harmonic component, for uniform and normal (gaussian) probability distributions of these deviations. |
