Abstract:The following article presents the results of empiric research of the delay time of self-ignition in the compression ignition engine Perkins 1104C-E44T, powered with biofuel – the mixture of fatty acid methyl esters. The research followed the calculations using known correlations that describe the delay of self-ignition in engines powered by petroleum fuels. The comparison of values calculated and achieved in the course of the research is shown in the graphs.
