Abstract:Flocculent substances were inoculated in the sequencing batch reactor(SBR), and the actual high-load organic oily wastewater as the object,the effect of influent organic loading(OLR) on the formation of granular sludge was investigated under medium temperature conditions. The evolution of particle size, biomass, microbial activity and extracellular polymer(EPS) composition of granular sludge were analyzed. The removal characteristics of chemical oxygen demand(COD) and dissolved oil of granular sludge affected by OLR was explored. The results showed that when the influent OLR increased from 0.5 kg/(m3·d) to 3.0 kg/(m3·d), the mixed liquid total suspended solids(MLTSS) increased to 9.2 g/L, the volume index(SVI30) decreased to 61.6 mL/g, and the particle size of granular sludge mainly concentrated in 0.8~1.2 mm, accounting for about 40.2%. In addition, OLR affected EPS components in granular sludge, with the increase of influent OLR, the contents of protein(PN) and polysaccharide(PS) in granular sludge increased, but the content of PN increased significantly. When the OLR was 3.0 kg/(m3·d), the removal efficiencies of COD and dissolved oil by granular sludge were the highest, which was 92.3% and 79.5%, respectively, significantly higher than other OLRs. The results of this study provided a theoretical reference for the treatment of oily wastewater by rapid cultivation of granular sludge.
