Abstract:The effect operation mode changes on the dominant filamentous bacteria of aerobic granular sludge and the sludge characteristics were studied.The results showed that a large number of extended filamentous bacteria Type 021 N appeared in the sequencing batch activated sludge reactor(SBR),but it did not hinder the granulation of sludge,and with the progress of the granulation process of floc sludge,its influence on sludge sedimentation gradually decreased,and finally the mature aerobic granular sludge with mean particle size of 0.75 mm and SVI of 43 mL/g was obtained.However,when the mature granular sludge was inoculated into the continuous flow reactor,the granular sludge began to disintegrate and the characteristics of the sludge began to deteriorate.At the same time,the dominant filamentous bacteria was successively transformed into another type of exogenous filamentous bacteria sphaerogenic Natans.Analysis suggested that,overhang type of filamentous bacteria could affect the sludge in the biological area and settling basin between the cycle and its actual residence time in the sedimentation tank was the main reason for the disintegration of granular sludge,the influence was smaller in SBR operation mode and larger in continuous flow mode.
