Abstract:This paper discusses the concept of Stereoscopic Seismic Method (SSM) along with data acquisition, processing, and integrated interpretation methods and techniques, and an example of the method first applied in the target area of Songliao Basin is given. Initial practices show that by using the stereoscopic seismic method the geometric resolution of formational texture recognition can be improved up to 2~3 m, and the resolution of distinguishing the spatial inhomogeneity of subsurface media can reach the acoustic log level. As a result, the method increases the overall resolution of current seismic prospecting by 5~10 folds. lt is contributive to upgrade the capability of seisrnic rnethods for solving oil and gas geology problems. At present, to raise the capability of high-resolution seismic to an entirely new height, the key is to enhance the effective high-frequency components of the primary data collected. Only by transforming first the productive observation method and technique currently used, can we attain the goal. Now the stereoscopic seismic method is a highly recommendable approach to help realize the aim of this trans formation.
