FPGA Debugging via Logic Analyzer SignalTap II

SignalTap II embedded logic analyzer,which accomplishes the functions of traditional logic analyzer through combination of codes performing logic analysis function and custom design to compilation and fitting together,is an embedded debugging program in Quartus II software of Altera company.The basic content,realizing principle and related applications condition of SignalTap II embedded logic analyzer are covered in this paper.By the example of the switch fabric design,the methods and steps in debugging the FPGA design using SignalTap II are introduced in detail.Finally,analysis and comparison are conducted with traditional logic analyzer equipments for comparison of advantages and disadvantages,and the application condition of SignalTap II is discussed.
