Abstract: | Amorphous films produced by electrochemical oxidation of aluminum in an aqueous 10 M HNO3 solution were studied. The parameters of the nearest neighbor atomic configuration were evaluated from x-ray scattering intensities, and the surface morphology of the films was examined by scanning electron microscopy. The results demonstrate that the electrochemical dissolution of the Al substrate prevails over the oxide film growth, which results in a large specific surface area of the films. |
