Improvement of Feature Extraction in Mandarin Digit Speech Recognition

Three speech confusions related to speech feature extraction exist in Mandarin speech recognition.Three improvements are proposed in this paper to remove these confusions:1)Durbin algorithm is substituted by Burg algorithm in speech LPC analysis to improve its accuracy and stability.2)Optimization is applied in the modification of speech feature zone characteristics, to gain better VQ result.3)High performance pitch estimation is proposed based on vowel center location and pitch neighboring search to get accurate tone features. Experiments show that confusions have been greatly reduced by these methodologies,and the recognition error rate has been decreased by 70%.
