The article illuminates the classification and characteristic of the general stud welding method at home and abroad, indicates four essential conditions that stud welding machine used in automobile industry required and analyzes the principle and welding process about three kinds of stud welding technology. It also give answers to the questions such as: which kind of welding machine is applicable for automobile industry?Which one is not applicable,why?How to select the stud welding machine according to the auto manufacturing scale?It is difficult to meet the requirements of good quality,big scale and high speed needed in auto manufacturing and catch up with the other developed countries without adopting the special equipment in China.Because the development of stud welding machine in China is irregular,we try to give some systemic information and correct guidance to the experts,especially for the stud welding engineers and the managers who in charge of layout.
